Our Blister Pack Program

This service is often misunderstood and under-utilized in today's complicated pharmaceutical world. It is NOT a service only for the 'typical' elderly individual who has several different medications and cannot remember to take them all. At Skaha Pharmacy, we have people of all ages, with various medical conditions, and ranging from 1 to 15 medications per day.

The purpose of packaging medications a week at a time in 4 different time slots is to improve compliance, which simply means to ensure that a person is not taking too little or too much of their medication by mistake or on purpose. If you improve compliance, then you improve the effectiveness of the medications. This would hopefully lead to a healthier individual with a better quality of life. As well, it would reduce the amount of hospital emergency visits and physician visits resulting from medication errors.

At Skaha Pharmacy, we work together with the Physician, the Home Care Worker, the Registered Nurse, the Family or Friends and the Patient. This ensures that there is continuity of care between all of the concerned parties. Our goal is to reduce the patients' anxiety, as well as the caregivers' anxiety about dispensing medication. This service allows the professionals to take responsibility for your medications.
